Proclaiming His Excellencies: EWO Women's Ministry 2010-2011
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." 1 Peter 2:9
The lazy, hazy days of summer . . . it’s a nice description, but how realistic is it? I’m sure all of us have experienced the hazy days of summer—with the 90-degree heat we’ve been having—but I wonder how many of you have enjoyed lazy days this summer? As busy women, wives, and mothers, we tend to fill our days, don’t we? In fact, many of our days can be quite hectic!
The Women’s Ministry team keeps this busyness factor in mind as we pray and plan for each ministry year. We don’t want to just fill the calendar—our calendars seem to be plenty full already! We want the events and activities to be worthwhile, to build into the lives of women. It is our goal to provide opportunities for women to enjoy good fellowship, serve together, grow in the knowledge of God, gain encouragement to live a life that pleases God, and, as our theme for the year states, “Proclaim His Excellencies.”
Would you help us “Proclaim His Excellencies” this year by attending some of our events or Bible studies? Please take a minute to read what we have planned for the year and consider how you might get involved. Mark your calendar, invite a friend, and join in—we would love to see you!

woman who desires spiritual encouragement and support?
Here’s something just for you: The fall session of Apples of Gold women’s mentoring ministry is about to begin Monday, September 13! Apples of Gold gives older women at East White Oak an opportunity to build up and teach younger women—both married and single. We meet once a week for eight weeks to enjoy dinner, devotions, and fellowship. We have space for 10 women. Due to overwhelming interest for last year’s sessions, these 10 slots will be filled by random drawing at noon September 5. Registrations will be collected August 29 and September 5 at the Women’s Ministry table in the hallway (no phone-in registrations, please). The remaining names will be automatically placed in the spring session. There is no cost to participate, but a full commitment to all eight sessions is necessary.

Precept Upon Precept Inductive Study: Isaiah
The Word of the Holy One to Israel, the Remnant, and the Nations . . .
and the Promise of the Child to Be Born
Isaiah is the crown jewel of Old Testament prophets. It’s a book that strikes awe in the heart of its reader, especially when its poetry is read in the Hebrew! Prophecies from Isaiah are mentioned in twenty-two places in the Gospels, Acts, and Romans. The words of Isaiah were often found on the lips of Christ. If Jesus, God incarnate, honored this grand and glorious book so highly, then you and I ought to do the same. In Isaiah Part 1, we’ll meet the Holy One of Israel and learn how He deals with those who claim Him as God but don’t honor Him as God in the way that they live. And we’ll find the destiny of nations, the future of all mankind . . . including ours. Please pick up your study materials from Gayle Williams (663-1042) by September 2 and have Lesson 1 completed for the first class.
Thursdays, 6:30 - 8:00 PM, beginning September 16 | Led by Diane Fahrenkrug (824-2622) | Meets in Room 170 | Suggested book donation: $25 | Fourteen weeks | No childcare available
Wising Up Bible Study (Part 2) by Beth Moore

The evening consists of a 35–45 minute DVD presentation followed by discussion and prayer. There is no fee for this study, and because it requires no outside preparation, it is ideal for ladies new to Bible study or for those of you who have busy fall schedules. Check it out!
