Children's Ministry

Nursery
Infants
We understand that your precious little one is very special and needs a clean, safe and loving atmosphere in which to stay. Your baby will begin to associate church with caring people and interesting activity.

Toddler
Beginning walkers have needs unique to them. Everything in the Toddler nursery is designed with your special toddler in mind.

Early Childhood
Sunday School
Just as the foundation of any building is its most important element, so too is the spiritual foundation we build into the lives of preschool children. Our children's ministry staff uses games, songs, Bible stories and crafts to communicate the love of God.

Children's Church
In Jeruselem 2000 years ago, children shouted "Hosanna" and waved palm branches. Today in Bloomington - Normal children need age appropriate ways to worship as well. Creativity and variety are the key words for our early childhood Children's Church. Your child will be fascinated by the attention-grabbing, visually stimulating ways that our Children's Church teaching teams bring a Biblical truth to life.

Kids Under Construction
It's the desire of the Kids Under Construction staff that hundreds of children from Bloomington - Normal will grow up never remembering a day that they did not love God and desire to serve Him. That's why they are so passionate about establishing a solid biblical foundation of truth on which kids can build their lives. Your child will join the Praying Painters, Compassionate Carpenters, and the Glorious Gardeners for a fun morning of learning about who God is and how we can live to please Him.

Elementary
Sunday School
The grade school years are a time when young minds are growing almost as fast as the shoe size! Children from many of the schools in and around Bloomington - Normal participate in our elementary Sunday School program. It is designed to teach basic truths of Scripture with special attention to the way those truths apply to your child's life. Our adult teachers are anxious to develop significant relationships with their students. Time together will include a Bible lesson, prayer and plenty of opportunity for your child's teacher to get to know him or her and encourage them.

Children's Church
It's the beginning of the transition to "big church". Children, kindergarten through 2nd grade, worship God with songs, prayer and Bible lessons. For the older elementary age child, grades 3 through 6, we encourage parents to have their student join them in the worship service. Your child will learn what it means to honor and glorify God by your example.

AWANA (Age 3 thru 6th Grade)
  Wednesday Nights, 6:30 - 8:00 PM, September - April
AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. AWANA exists to tell boys and girls about God's love for them and Christ's sacrifice for them in addition to training them in the truths of Scripture and in the discipline of Scripture memory. Four Clubs meet on Wednesdays:
  • Cubbies (ages 3 and 4)
  • Sparks (K - 2nd grade)
  • Truth & Training for Boys(3rd - 6th grade)
  • Truth & Training for Girls (3rd - 6th grade)

Each club meeting is filled with a variety of wonderful activities. Game time includes fun and exciting team building recreation. During Handbook time, children work on Scripture memory, crafts and Bible reading. Counsel time is when children will sing and receive clear instruction from God's Word. Other optional activities in addition to club night may include campouts, service projects, slumber parties and bike hikes just to name a few. The East White Oak AWANA program had been ministering to children from greater Bloomington - Normal for over 30 years.
